While I did receive a paperback version of Sierra Six, I went out of my way to also get this novel on audiobook as I have had some awesome experiences with the Gray Man books in this format before. I just read that the first book might be made into a movie and I will see it even though I doubt it will be anywhere as good as the book. Due to the plot being about Gentry being hunted by everyone in Europe, most of the alternate perspectives are antagonists, and I had fun with the cool group of villains that Greaney featured in this novel. This forces him to engage in a less sophisticated battle against his opponents, relying more on his skills than having any backup or intelligence, which I thought made for a much more credible narrative with higher stakes. While it does serve as a really good introduction to the protagonist and his unique situation, I found The Gray Man works well as a standalone novel, and it does not rely too heavily on details revealed in the later novels. Kyiv City State Administration I enjoyed every one of the books, and cant wait for the next book in the series. Added note - after about book 4 when I added the series, I gave it a grade of A. I liked the way in which the story followed Gentry progressively working his way up the trafficking ladder, from the low-level way station that he accidently discovered, through the corrupt police in several Eastern European towns, to the organisations middle management, their larger auctions, right up the bases of the Consortiums leader in America. All of this led to an extremely exciting and highly compelling story, and I really enjoyed the full extent of One Minute Outs story. However, it is not long before things take a turn for the worst, as Court Gentry is framed and betrayed by the very people he was persuaded to trust. The constant discussion about what he achieved is really entertaining, especially as it causes several antagonists some major apprehensions. All this tradecraft really adds to the authenticity of the story, although it did make parts of the book a little clunky in places, especially when the narrator or the characters explain certain espionage or military elements multiple times in overly descriptive ways. This time, Gentry will team up with his love interest to keep a very wanted man alive as everyone in the intelligence game and criminal underworld tries to kill him. Little suspense, too many threads at one time, and hard to care what happens to Court. Appeared In As terrible as it is to consider in this modern day and age, human slavery is still a thing, and for many it is a profitable and stable business. Led by former CIA officer Lloyd, the French company have organised for a team of hitters to take Gentry down for good, but when their first strike fails, they must get inventive. I particularly appreciated the slimy and cocky voice that he gifted to main antagonist Lloyd, which gave the man a cowardly, bureaucratic voice (it honestly reminded me a little of Cyril from Archer), and really helped to make him even more unlikeable. While Corbu is a bit of a pain at the start of the book, due to her incompetence, she grew on me over time, especially as she became more determined and capable, especially when more of her backstory was revealed.
